Questions

Straight answers, no sales patter.

Cost, timelines, shipping, materials — the things people actually ask before they commission a piece. Anything else, ask us directly.

How much does a custom mosaic cost?

Smaller framed pieces start from around $450. Murals, shower features and fireplace surrounds are quoted individually, because price follows size, materials — stained glass, smalti and natural stone all cost differently — and how intricate the cutting is. Every quote starts with a free, no-obligation conversation: call or text 719-521-8312.

How long does a commission take?

Every piece is made to order by hand, so please allow a minimum of 30 days in the studio once the design is approved. Larger murals and installed pieces are scheduled further out. If you have a date in mind — a remodel deadline or a gift — say so early and the schedule gets built around it.

Do you ship?

Yes — framed pieces are crated and shipped, insured, anywhere in the US. Shipping costs are the buyer’s, quoted at cost before the piece leaves the studio. Made-to-order pieces ship once the studio work is complete, so please allow a minimum of 30 days before dispatch.

How does commissioning a mosaic work?

Four steps. First, a free conversation about the space and the idea. Second, a full-size drawing with a colour palette and material samples for your approval — nothing is cut before you sign off the design. Third, the studio build: every piece hand-cut, checked and placed one at a time. Finally, installation for built-in pieces, or crated delivery of the finished work, grouted and sealed.

What are the mosaics made from?

Hand-cut glass, stained glass, smalti and natural stone — never mass-produced mosaic sheets, which is why there are no visible grid lines in the work. Materials are matched to the setting: non-porous glass and freeze-thaw-stable bases outdoors, commercial-grade setting systems in wet areas.

Can a mosaic go in a shower or another wet area?

Yes — it is one of the most popular places for them. Simon Beames is a career tile installer (26 years, Schluter-certified), so a shower mosaic is built on proper waterproofing and set to the same standard as the tile around it. Built that way, it will outlast the bathroom.

Where can a mosaic be installed?

Shower walls and niches, kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, full wall murals, floors and entries, and outdoor medallions for patios and gardens. Framed pieces hang anywhere a picture can. If a wall can hold tile, it can hold a mosaic.

Can you work from my photograph or idea?

Yes. Most commissions start as a client’s photograph, a view from their land, or a rough idea, and are redrawn at full size as a mosaic design — simplified where the material demands it. You approve the drawing and the palette before any cutting starts, so there are no surprises.

Where do you deliver and install?

Framed pieces are crated and shipped anywhere in the United States. Installed murals and built-in features are quoted individually depending on the project — start with a call or text to 719-521-8312 and talk through the space.

Do you make mosaics for businesses, not just homes?

Yes — murals and feature pieces for restaurants, lodges, venues and offices, designed for the architecture and built to take public foot traffic. Start with a call or text to 719-521-8312 and talk through the space.

How do I look after a finished mosaic?

Much like good tile: warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner, and no harsh acids on stone or grout. Outdoor pieces want resealing on the same cycle as natural stone. Every finished piece comes with care notes specific to its materials.
